What will Z5 Pricing be like?

BMW currently prices the Z4 at $49,000 and M4 at $74,000. That has me thinking by time the Z5 comes to market it could be positioned as a mid-high $60k vehicle, and that's just its starting price.

What are your thoughts on pricing?

Probably 50-60k for the z5 roadster, closer to 60k. It's speculated to have a large six-cylinder engine that should pump out 335 hp and 450 Nm. That's the same hp as the Z4's top hp. So you're paying for a new body but similar power output.

Sounds pretty fair. I wouldn't want to go higher than 60k really.

That's assuming the 60k is the base price. Once you start adding on features, that price could hit $65-70K. If I do get close to $70k, I may as well go with the M4.

Well the current Z4 is a good point of reference for pricing, looking at how pricing ranges you start at $49,700 and top out at $66,350. Now, that's just for the trim of Z4 you choose, we're not even at options yet! So, that's where we have to begin by thinking through what trims will be available then the options.

If $60k is base, $80k could be top of the line: Z5 sDrive35is ?

According to one source:

Quote:
It’s too early to talk about prices here, but given that it is slightly bigger than the Z4 and will be positioned higher in the lineup, the Z5 could arrive with a steeper price tag. With the current Z4 retailing from $49,700, the upcoming roadster could fetch in excess of $55,000 before options.
So I guess with all the add-ons and options and so on around the $65-80k range.

That sounds just about right since it positions the Z5 well ahead of the Z4 and in its segment. Also should give Toyota some room to play as well and still get get sales volume going on.

With what they have been doing to do M4 lately, offering a higher performance M4, if done to the Z5, we could see it break the $100k price level.

Doubt the Z5 would break the 100k price point even with a higher performance Z5. They need to compete with the new Porsche 718 Boxster S which will be sold for $68,400 MSRP.

BMW should position themselves under the Porsche 718 Boxster S. If the Z5 is close to 68k, people may go for the Porsche instead. I would like to see it go for 60k or less but realistically, BMW will try to sell it as close to the 718 as possible.

The 718 twins are definitely a big competition for the Z5, Pricing just under it will make it real interesting
